Stay at Home Mom Day

Confession: I've had 4 days off from work....and I've taken the kids to school 3 out of those 4 days. I learned from my  last vacation that having the kids for all of the days of my vacation do not equal a vacation and leave me pretty much in the same place I was at before I went on vacation. So I made the choice with out regret to spend a little time by myself on 3 out of the 4 days. Going to a movie, getting a pedicure, shopping with out hurry, enjoying the peace and quiet of the house, taking naps, taking long baths and generally being good to myself. Which I can truthfully say I don't do enough. BUT today my kids stayed home with me and I decided to make the most of it. We started off the day by going to Story hour at our local library. It was so great. My kids got a kick out of it and I learned from watching them during the craft time that they both are developing mad scissors skills. Next we went to McDonald's for lunch and stayed there for TWO hours! We've never done that before but my kids were in heaven and we had no where to be, nothing to do and they had a ball. We even all got ice cream cones which I generally always say No to. Kate's face had a look of total shock when I said Yes. We came home and I started on the dough to make some home made bread. I hadn't made this recipe since I stayed at home with the kids over 2 years ago. I was nostalgic for a second, but there's something about knowing that staying at home is not even in my realm of possibility that takes the sting of regret away. While the dough was rising we went to get Kate a hair cut. She had been saying that she wanted her hair Big which means long in Kate universe (this is no doubt fueled by the fact that every little girl in her class at school has long hair)  but I as I was trying to brush it this morning and encountered tangle after tangle she announced that she wanted little (short) hair. I jumped on this opportunity.  I absolutely love it as I always do when Kate gets her hair cut. It just suits her. After the hair cut we headed over to get my oil changed and then I took the kids to a great park that we never get to go to. So now my bread is baking and the kids are winding down with a movie that they got at the library. It's back to work tomorrow but I can truly say that I have recharged and rested and even relaxed. And now  the pictures (all from my phone, BUT tomorrow I get my wonderful new camera from Amazon....GLEE!!!!!! I was able to get a nice trade in amount for my old one through the Amazon trade in program...this week end I will be in a picture taking frenzy..LOOK OUT!.................

They never get time on the computers at the library because we always go on a busy Saturday. But today we were there right when the library opened.

He was so excited that his robot fit on his Happy Meal  skateboard

Nothing better than an ice cream cone to Kate. She finished the entire thing!

I love the skateboard picture of Carson and you look so beautiful! So glad you took some time for yourself. Most definitely deserved it.
