Kate's Pre-K Graduation

You know I always made fun of Pre-K graduations and Kindergarten graduations for that matter. Why do we need to celebrate the smallest little milestones. Dressing up pint size kids in mini graduation gowns and caps? ridiculous! And THEN my kid was part of a Pre-K graduation. I am a cynic no more...at least about that. I say bring on the celebration. Going from  pre school to kindergarten is a MAJOR milestone. What in the world was I thinking? There was so much cuteness wrapped up in this little ceremony I could hardly stand it. They sang You are My Sunshine. This a song I have sung to Kate since she was a tiny little baby. We call it "our song." I thought I would be in  a puddle of tears but thankfully for me and those around me they sang it in an upbeat kind of way, not the misty eyed sentimental version I sing to Kate. And then they sang You'll be in my heart. They must have practiced this and all of the other songs forever because all of the kids were just belting them out at the top of their lungs! It was so incredibly sweet. And when they had each kid come up to the microphone and say their name and what they wanted to be when they grew up I thought I would melt. Kate said, "My name is Kate and I want to be a mermaid." How practical! I thought that was pretty random until I remembered when we went swimming this past week end every time she would jump from the side of the pool I would call her my mermaid. Sweet girl. I planned to video the whole thing but frankly I could never really see Kate that well because the little boy in from of her had his hair spiked so high it hid her entire face for most of the program.:) It was kind of a blessing because I gave up on the video camera and just enjoyed watching the ceremony and drinking it all in.  I am so proud of my beautiful little girl and who she is becoming. I say bring on the graduations. Every part of her wonderful life should be celebrated:)

The two (k) (c) ates These girls are attached at the hip. Everyday I ask Kate who she played with and the answer is ALWAYS "Bisola and Cate Yuraset" Amazingly they are the only double names in the class so everyone knows Kate's last name.
