First Day of School : Kate and Carso Style

The first day of Kindergarten and Pre K is done for Kate and Carso. Just more proof God really nailed it when he matched me up with Kate. All morning she said, "Come on Mom! Let's go! Come on!" This girl was ready to hit the ground running. We got in her room and as always she was quiet and observant. Taking everything in just like she has done since she was a teeny tiny baby. She was strictly business at good bye time. "Bye Mom. See ya!" When I said , "I love you." She said "I can't tell you I love you right now because I'm coloring my picture." Good grief! If she had matched my emotions we would have been a puddle of tears but I walked out dry eyed. My Mom and I were kind of in awe of her because she is SO different than I was as a little girl. Let's just say I was a  stage 5 Cling on with my Mom. ;)  Once again my girl shows me the way to do things her way. We actually went in twice because her Daddy showed up after fighting traffic to be with her this morning. She had settled in a bit since we last saw her and got a fantastic smile out of her when we took the Daddy picture. More relaxed for sure.  Carson was excited to for Pre K (or Free K as he calls it) and very excited for Kate. He's so good at encouraging and being happy for her. I love that boy so much. It was mostly Kate's morning and he was A-ok with that.  When we picked Kate up she ran to me with the biggest smile on her face and simply said, "That was long!" Ha!
Her teacher Ms Hutchinson seems fantastic. All morning I was hoping to bump into someone whose kids had her last year (she taught 3rd grade last year). But I was thinking, "How could that happen?" Enter my Mom. She is good at striking up a conversation with just about anyone. When I went to pick her up from the library. (She stopped in for a muffin:) She said "I have someone you need to meet." It turns out she had met a lady whose son had Ms. H last year. Well What do you know about that??? The lady was singing her praises. And told me after her son was in a terrible car accident last year Ms. H and her family came to the hospital to see them, would video  tape special messages for him and call to check on him all of the time. That's what I needed to hear. Thank you God for that quick confirmation that I needed:)

Kate and Ms. Hutchinson

Is that excitement or what????

The next series of pictures were requested by Kate and I couldn't resist posting them. :)

Especially this one.

Or this one. Silly girl!

She was so excited she completely forgot about her self imposed ban on taking a smiling picture with me.

My darling boy. My sweet baby boy. My beautiful boy. I could go on and on...

Absolutely love this one.

I could just hug him all day and I think he would let me. The look on his face is priceless!

My Mom came for the special first day. My kids are huge Mimi fans. I always say that mimi and kate are like peas and carrots when they are together.

The next 2 are very real pictures of how Kate deals with any new situation. A little biting of the finger nails. Quiet. Observing, taking it all in. Never one to just rush in.

She kind of looks like she's rethinking this whole kindergarten thing. But that's just Kate. I know her like the back of my hand. Excited to be there, but not going to just bound right in.

Daddy made it just in time and surprised our girl. He was stuck in traffic and just chomping at the bit to get to his girl. She was thrilled! And Carson wasn't to put out about the idea of Daddy taking him to his first day of Free K either. :)

Daddy and Carso finally at Free K.

Daddy got a kiss! So sweet for both of them:)
