Holiday Road- Day One

So I took lots of pictures. 506 to be exact and that's just the ones that made the cut. You could say that this vacation was well documented. We went with my brother Burke and his wife Stacey and the two most adorable sisters in the entire universe, Marin and Hollis. We had tantrums, roller coasters of emotions, pouting, and  silly arguments (Carson and Kate debating on whether she was a "Diaper head) or not. But honestly what did we expect with 4 kids 5 and under?  I am going to break up the posts by days because there's just too much goodness to do it any other way. And so I give you Day One. By the way, I had 2 things running through my head during this day of our road trip. 1) the song "Holiday Road" from the movie Vacation and 2) The line in Vacation where Ellen asks Clark "Why aren't we flying to Wally World?" and Clarks responds with enthusiasm "Why aren't we flying??!?!? Because getting there is half the fun!!!!!!"

We started out at 5:15 am. We did one 10 hour day of driving and kept the 2nd day short (4 hours). This worked out really well for all of us. We drove to Gulfport, MS the first day so that we could get a little taste of the beach before we headed to Florida.

The speed limit is 75 in most of Louisiana so this state just flew by!

Sweet set up right? These DVD players saved my sanity.

Caution: mid day nap means a late night for Carso.

She was such a happy traveler except when Carson tried to get under skin...which he did many times. He takes his job of being a little brother very seriously.

Can you read his shirt?? "Are we there Yet?" I picked this out specifically for this little boy. Carso asks me this when we're going on 10 MINUTE trips much less 10 HOUR trips. But he hardly said it this trip because we saw a little joke on someone else's blog. She said that when she was little everytime she would ask her Dad "are we there yet?" his reply was "Yep! get out!" Carso thought that was too funny and so did I. Side note: Love Kate's sweet face in the back ground.

The many faces of my happy traveler

Relaxing in the hotel bed. They loved this part of the trip which shows that we really are related. I love a good hotel room. :) Carson started calling our hotel room "Our Tower" for whatever reason.

Our first look at the beach

I caught Carson's first reaction. Pretty much sums up how we all felt.

Looks like someone else had bigger problems than us that day. A guy was just finishing taking off the tulle that went around this beautiful wedding set up

Jumping on the hotel bed is a must!

Stay tuned for Day 2:)
