This And That

Kate's new beach hat. Look how it sets off her blue eyes. I say that because she hated this hat when I suggested it to her at the store. She wanted this floppy orange and pink hat that would have no protection at all and wasn't half as cute as this one. I reasoned, I rationalized and then I overruled. Because even though I want to give her some say in what she wears there has to be a point where you say as a Mom, "Look we're getting this hat...deal with it."  As you can tell, out of the bazillion books I have read this summer, not one of them is about parenting. I parent my own way thank you very much. Anyway.....the bottom line is she walked out of the store hating this hat and then proceeded to wear it the ENTIRE day and get compliments on it the ENTIRE day. Which really goes to show Mom really DOES know best:)

It's been a seriously long time since I got my craft on but it made a minor resurgence last Saturday when I made Carso this super hero cape. YOu just fold the top about 2 inches cut little slits at the fold, open it up and weave a ribbon through. He was happy and requested I cut it off at the correct super hero length as the initial length was too long.

Don't ask how many times I stuck this kangaroo in the banister so he could rescue it. Me and my bright ideas:)

Kate got a brand new pair of pink boots to replace her old pink boots which will be lovingly handed down to our beautiful girl cousin Marin soon. She wore these boots every single day last week. Big surprise.

Is it me or can you glimpse the teenage years in this picture? I had to do a double take. She has grown up so much!

We are going on a 14 hour road trip soon. I'm no hero. Even though I would love to wax on about how I never had this type of set up when I went on family road trips I won't because I figure if this type of technology was around back then my parents would have definitely jumped on board. Here's Carso taking a test run in the drive way. All 3 of us are excited about this new addition.

Coming attraction for Carso!

You know I really marvel at how I tear up every time I think about the first day of kindergarten for Kate. Yes, she has been going to daycare for last 2 1/2 years but this is different. It just is.

My alma mater ACU sent Kate a back pack. She was so excited.
