Ice Day

Yesterday right around the time Kate came home from school I got a call from them stating that her school would be canceled today. How's that for efficiency? We were one of the first ISDs to shut down. Slightly behind Dallas ISD. Judging from this morning's aftermath they definitely made the right call. The only thing I am sad about is that with all of the other cancellations they also canceled my half marathon on Sunday that I had been training so hard for. So sad. Anyway, the kids and I always enjoy a good day at home with no where to go. We always make the best of it.

Do not be deceived. This is Ice NOT snow. This is the result of sleet coming down all night. Now keep in mind this happened on Thursday night  and on the previous day it was 80 and Carson was wearing shorts.

Kate's first order of business after breakfast was to have mint chocolate chip ice cream. As she said to me "Mommy I NEED ice cream so that I can warm up." Your logic is faulty my dear.

This is the spot on our couch that we call "the comfy spot". It a much sought after spot when we read books and watch TV. Due to Kate's ice cream obsession Carson claimed the prize.

My ICE babies.

Goofy ICE babies.

This is how you know that it is ice and not snow. You can stand right on top of it with out sinking in. We were puzzled at first.

But not for long! Soon we were jumping for joy!

And dancing an ice jig!

Kate is making it snow with her sifter. Gotta love left over beach toys.

They are watching the ice melt off of the roof. Simple pleasures.

Enjoying it!

Here's the #1 sign that my kids have been home all day. The house is a wreck and I'm trying to resist the futile urge to pick it up. It's that whole picking up with a tornado following behind you thing.
