Christmas Decos......Simple

I really kept it simple this year. Simple just seems to be a need for me right now:) Everything except for some  ribbon and our new village house is being recycled.

I love this little house that we found at JoAnn's on sale this week end. It light up at night and looks so pretty. I had a friend who added a different house to his little Christmas Village every year. I always thought that was so neat. I picked this house out this year. I really wanted the kids to be more involved but they were more interested in the fake snow that we bought to go around it. :) My plan is that they will each get to add something each year to our little village.

I just love sitting by out tree at night. Something about a lit Christmas tree is so serene to me.

I have never really thought out our Christmas mantle until this year. I definitely knew I wanted something simple. I brought down the mirror that was in my bedroom and leaned it on the mantle, hung the wreath from last year in front of it, filled my hurrican vases with old ornaments, and hung some ornaments from the ceiling with fishing line. I love how it looks so festive yet simple.

As we were putting the ornaments on the tree last week end Carso pulled out quite a few and exclaimed, "Look Mommy they don't got no HANDLES!" So instead of buying new hooks (handles) I piled them high into my hurricane vase and set it in the center of my black table. I love it.

Christmas Pictures...The Beginning

On Thanksgiving Day I decided to get the Christmas tree out. It just seemed extremely appropriate. I like the idea that we will be able to enjoy it for a while this season. On Saturday morning we decorated it and kids started to recognize some of the "old" ornaments that they have made. Of course I let them decorate the bottom of the tree all by themselves and they took it quite seriously which means that there are bunches of ornaments all clumped together. So cute.

Yep....he is kicking the tree

I saw a family take their Christmas picture in the reflection of an ornament. Carson thought he looked so silly.

Do you see that face?

I picked up this train at a black friday sale  to go around our Christmas tree. That poor train. I give it 3 weeks tops. Carso is more interested in derailing it than actually keeping it on the track. I should have known.

This was hilarious. Kate was pushing these big boys around on the merry go round and the boy in the brown shirt kept saying, "She is SO strong for a little kid!!" Kate was delighted:)

Thanksgiving Day

I think I am coming to accept that my pictures these days are going to be more like this than the lovely posed shots that are imagined in my mind. But really...how funny will this picture be to look at in 5 years versus a lovely posed shot?

This picture is nice, but doesn't look quite natural....

There! That's better.....

Even better!
