Our Boy on his Big Day

He loves to make us laugh. I don't think he knows that this is funny yet and maybe he's just bored by his shoes but lately he loves putting Kate's shoes on. Here is showing off her boots.

And of course for his BirthDay Kate's black dress shoes really seem to fit the bill.
Shhhhhh! Don't tell Daddy!

I love how Kate is looking at him as if to say, "Well now look at you, you big 2 year old!"

Lovin' the boots!

I remember telling a friend once that I would never throw a character themed birthday party for my kids. I said it with a lot of smugness. But I think I underestimated how much my kids would love Toy Story and all of the characters that go with it. When I brought these cupcakes out with these little Toy Story cut outs Carson started squealing with happiness. I mean he was doing his little happy dance and was over the moon! Once again another thing that I said I would NEVER do bites the dust!

Carson rocks his bowl haircut. Jared and I have both given him a trim at different times during the year and it always ends up in a bowl cut. Carson just really pulls it off and it gives him that certain mischevious cuteness that comes with being a boy. I think the bowl haircut will stick around for awhile.

You know that phrase, "I could just eat him up!"? This picture definitely applies. :)

He had just been 2 for an hour. For his first act of 2 year old defiance he pulled all of the books off of the shelves. He was so proud.

He's such a reader!! Here he is reading Brown Bear, Brown Bear to Kate and Nena. "Brow burr brow burr wha you see?"

Carson never fails to appreciate the little things. Here he is appreciating his shadow.

Yesterday he was so smiley! It was all about him and he knew it.

When we started singing "Happy Birthday" to him we started to get this face.

And this face. We couldn't figure it out until we realized I had replaced the Woody cut out with a candle. When Woody was replaced, we got...........
This face! Problem solved. Let the singing begin!

I didn't get the picture, but he really did blow out his candle all by himself!

He was such a cuddle bug yesterday. I think I kissed him 1000 times. I would just scoop him up and hug him and kiss and he let me!

I love his goofiness.

Bye Bye!

So long Pardner! Happy Trails!

Carson is TWO! at OneTrueMedia.com

TWO!

At 1:13 PM today our boy will be TWO years old. I loved the day he was born. I really do remember it like it was yesterday. He was born right into my arms. My "wonderful surprise" I called him over and over again. It seemed like everyone we knew and loved came to meet our son that night. It was one of the proudest and happiest days of my life. TWO years later he is still surprising us.

His loving heart makes me smile everyday. When I am away from him all I have to his think of his latest smile or laugh and I instantly feel better. Carson has that way about him. You just can't help but smile when you around him. Sometimes he will pull away from my hugs and shout loudly, "Cars! Trucks Mommy!" But mostly, yes most of the time, he will cuddle and hug with me a very long time. He has this endearing way of leaning his body into you and wrapping his arms around your neck. I love it. While Kate has started to duck my kisses and even wipe them off sometimes, Carson lets me cover his face in kisses.

I love how God reveals his personality more and more everyday. This boy is going to have a huge heart for people. This is my favorite Carson story of his 2nd year and shows his true character. He just LOVES!  It started one night when his Daddy was holding him and saying his bed time prayers. I was standing just a little bit away from both of them. Suddenly Carson reaches out his arm wraps it around my neck and PULLS me in close to both of them. I LOVE this. Ever since that night I stand a little bit  away to see if he will do it again and every night when his Daddy starts the prayer that little arm flings out and wraps around my neck and pulls me in close. That story tells so much about Carson and who he is. Happy 2nd Birthday to our sweet loving boy! We can't wait to see what God has in store for him this year!

Horsey Daddy

I had to get this post in before we launch into full on Birthday mode. Our sweet little blonde ball of fun turns 2 tomorrow! Jared has this penchant for playing with our kids. I mean he is REALLY good at it. I had to catch some of the fun the other night.

True Poopy Story

Yesterday we started potty training Kate....AGAIN.   And our wonderful trainee again defied the potty training rules. Peeing 3 times in 20 minutes (How can you keep up with that?) At one point she was having a conversation with me as pee was running down her leg. I asked her, "Can't you feel that??!?!?" She really doesn't seem to care. There was one break through as she did pee sucessfully in the potty. During this period of success she was overheard asking her Daddy, "Can you hear that? Can you hear that?" And the big topper was last night when she actually pooped in the potty. It would have been a complete success if she hadn't stood up mid poop and then sat back down on the seat. Draw your own conclusions on that one. The poor potty seat will never be and for that matter smell  the same.  Let's just say I longed for the days when ALL  the wipes  fit neatly in a wrapped up diaper. So today we declared a potty training break. Yes I KNOW we are doing it all wrong. Yes I KNOW we set her back and we are lazy. She will "get it" one day. She won't be in diapers forever. We think that Carson is secretly training himself admidst the chaos of Kate potty training. I am still declaring 2011 the year of NO Diapers! And we have 11 months to make it happen. No rush here!

Pretty soon......These shirts will be Lying!

Picture Pages

Vintage Carson. Cuteness with a slight sneer on his face.

For some reason, all through out the holidays when we would want Carson to take a picture, he would run to the tree and sit under it. Now if he would just smile!

My Mom thought she had it made. She dressed Kate up in her Christmas dress hoping to take some Christmas pics. And then she hit one road block she wasn't expecting.....THE boots!

But aren't they so cute?

Carson plays a round of ornament football. Better than the ever popular ornament baseball or its close cousin, ornament basketball.

I love this sweet profile pic.

Gotta love this gorgeous light.

Reading one of her favorites, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. (E, this is the copy you gave her at her baby shower;)

My personal favorite of the season.

Carson is all boy, but boy is he a hugger. Here is Honey getting a spontaneous rush hug from Mr. Man. Today he gave me a good laugh when he put his hand up for a high five and then leaned in for a sweet kiss. Unpredictable is his middle name for many reasons. ;)

The meeting of the minds.

A Big Ole Christmas Post

Right before we left for Christmas Eve service.

The incomparable Mimi. She has helped us out more than she'll ever know this week.

Old Man Pajamas

A real Christmas miracle

Christmas morning.

Wearing her necklace from Daddy.

The inflatable bouncy thing was a huge hit

And this picture is a big reminder for next year. No matter how many new toys you buy your kids the very next week end they will be playing with a $1.00 inflatable ring and the toy from 3 Christmases ago.

God has said, "Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you." So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" Hebrews 13:5-6
