Our New Favorite Sport

So we played tee ball last spring. And then we tried flag football this past winter. Those were fun and all but it didn't seem like anything clicked with Carson. But whoah! I think we found a fun match with soccer! Fun to play and a pleasure to watch. And of course because of his age they were some funny moments. Like the kid who subbed himself in when he decided his team needed him. And when the play got close to the sidelines where Carso was sitting out he thought he would give the ball a kick from the sidelines because you know...his team needs him even when he's resting:) And Carson scored a goal. Even though we all kind of missed it because they were all in thi big chaotic clump when the ball went into the goal. But his coach looked at us and said "That was Carson.":) But the very best part of the game was at the end. Every week they award a medal to one of his teammates. Now LAST year if he didn't get the medal it would send him into a pout and on a few occasions tears. But he was 4 and was new to this team thing. THIS year he sought the medal winning kid out on his own gave him a hug and said, "Good job winning the medal Shay!" Oh my goodness my heart was just swelling with pride. I told him that that was better than scoring a million goals. God is defining my boy's character and heart and it is an absolute blessing to witness.

This morning before the game.

He was SO excited.

SO excited

I call this one enthusiasm.

Warming up in the back yard

He got #1 just like T-ball

Spring Breakin'

What did we do for Spring Break? A big fat nothing....and we loved it. This is our favorite vacation. As Kate asked me many times, "Mom can we just stay at the house all day?" There was one day where we stayed in our PJs all day (ok maybe there were 2 days like that but who's counting?)

Kate and Forrest Gump

It was a veritable smorgasbord outside.

His theory behind the boots with shorts? When we go to the play ground I won't get wood chips in my shoes. Bingo! And it worked!

And then there was Kate's ensemble. One part of me wanted to tell her to change those socks and shoes but then I thought, "Why not??"

There was a LOT of this.

And then true to TX it turned cold.

Doing Homework with Benjy... I mean Kate

Back in high school my brother Benjy and I took a psychology class together. Big mistake. I was a serious student and he was.....not. We would get together to study for the tests and then I would have to study by myself to actually study. Although I remember having a lot of fun at these "study" sessions,  (Guns N Roses sing along anyone? ) they were mainly an exercise in MY frustration. Kate shares a lot of the same study habits as her Uncle and getting her to concentrate sometimes is trying to say the least. Here is one of our homework sessions photographed by Carso.

Oh doing homework with Kate. What can I say???

I have flashbacks of when I would study with my brother for psychology tests in high school. It is an exercise in frsutration. So much silliness and non stop movement.

Silliness. That's a bow tie pasta on her mouth.

I promise I am kissing her. See? She's smiling.

Oh but I love her so much:)

Carsie photo bombed us!

The frustration Mom! Here she was telling me that "capitalizing letters makes me cry!"

She tries so hard....sometimes.

God bless Ms. H!

I mean she is my own flesh and blood and I get frustrated. I can't imagine this times 20! I love teachers! True heroes for sure.

Love this one. She knows I am just about done.

A picture with the photog:)

This is REAL Life!

God has said, "Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you." So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" Hebrews 13:5-6
