Day 2: A Museum and the Waffle House

On Day 2 we woke up to rain. And the weather report was calling for rain, rain, oh and more rain. My heart sank as I thought that our beach vacation was sure to be wiped out. We had  heard about a great childrens museum in the area so we headed there in the morning to get our minds off of the beach. That morning Kate's first words as she opened her eyes were, "Mommy! Today were going to the beach. Would you make a sand castle with me?" I said something lame about the beach being closed today and changed the subject.

Kate modeling her spontaneous vacation purchase. It turned out we didn't need rain coats for the rest of the week.

This one is hilarious because it was not suggested by me but he got on the boat and posed like this.

There was this super cool tall play structure. Carso loved it but Kate was not so sure.

Carso in the pretend grocery store. Not a big surprise that he was shopping in the frozen foods section.

And this is what it looked like outside. My Dad used to call these storms a Frog Strangler.

So maybe basketball talent is not in his future

They had this great reading nook. But I felt like Big Bird reading books to the kids in that nest.

We were headed back to our hotel but the main street back in was completely flooded so we stopped into this Waffle House. Ok Waffle House generally grosses me out but this was an act of desperation. But honestly, this is probably the only Waffle House that has beautiful ocean scenery as its back drop.

They both loved the waffles here. They were amazed that the waffle was so big that it covered the plate.

The Waffle House turned out to be our good luck charm because it suddenly cleared up while were inside.
