Rehearsal, Royalty, and ........Doughnuts!!

My Mom has been here since Wednesday night. We've packed some different things into a very short time. On Thursday morning we went to the rehearsal of the kids Spring Show for YCW. My Mom will not get to be here for the "real thing" on Monday night, so we sat in on the rehearsal that they had on Thursday morning. I'm telling you that hour and a half that we got to see them rehearse gave me more smiles than anything that happened the whole day.Of course when Carson's group got up there my camera battery died so I did not get any pictures. But he was so funny.  He was galloping in circles on the stage and jumping up and down which would have been ok (I mean what do you expect? These kids are 2!) except he's a shortie and they placed him in the first row. The teacher was afraid that he was going to fall off so she walked him back  to his designated spot. I think it hurt his feelings that his enthusiasm was squashed (as well they should have!) and he burst into tears.  Ah we will see what Monday brings. Here are the pics from Kate's part.

She spotted me!

She has done this since she was a little girl. When she is unsure about something she will pat her mouth over and over.

Sweet babies. It was the best kind of  chaos.

It's a toss up. Will Monday night give us this face???

This pose.

Sweet folded hands

My money is on the fact that we will get this face. :)

30 years ago my Mom and I watched the wedding of Princess Diana and that guy Charles. I remember getting up very early in the morning to watch it. It was a special memory for me. This morning through the magic of cable TV Mom and I did not have to get up at 3 am to catch the show. We watched the encore presentation at 9 am rested and relaxed. And do you want to see the cutest Royal Wedding Watcher ever??? I promise, my Mom and I did not buy this crown for him to wear. (Kate got it the day before in her prize bucket at school.)Nor did we put the crown on his head. We just looked over and he was wearing it. We were laughing so hard.  Just for the record, Carso thinks William and Kate are  going to last. :)

And last but not least, today I made a special treat that my girl loves. Homemade doughnuts. :) I love making these for her. It's an all day thing. When I give her the first one to eat and she shouts "Doughnuts!" it makes all of the effort very worth it. Oh, and by the way, if you ever run out of powdered sugar, just mix 2 cups of regular sugar with 2 T. of cornstarch in a blender. I learned that little trick today. :)

Pure Sweetness

Easter 2011

I wasn't banking on Kate wearing a dress this year. Although I would have loved to see her in a sweet smocked dress, this year it was not meant to be. So I compromised by making her a applique bunny shirt.

But look closely. It's the same fabric I used for the Paisley dress. :)

And of course I had to make one for Carso!

Aren't these freaky looking bunnies? I hand made them last night for their Easter baskets. Carson took one look at his and threw it down. Kate on the other hand took hers and gave it a big hug and kiss. She even brought her bunny to church.

Kate's Easter outfit. Bunny shirt, tutu from Mimi, and new summer sandals.

Toby brought her a Dino Bunny. Sweet cousins.

Awkward brother/sister shot. Love Carson's little arm wrapped around Kate

A little better. Carson is deifnitely giving an effort.

Loved the Easter egg hunt this year. The kids knew exactly what to do and did not need any help.

This is the look of determination

The best of the family pictures

The cousins and Nina. I love Nina's face in this one. Oh dear! Look at my two! Kate is crying and Carson is?????

Oh double dear!!! Kate is still crying and Carson is still ??????

Bubbles!!!

It never fails. Break out some bubbles and you will get the picture of pure joy. I love it. Such a gift to see.

Now if this isn't the look of pure  joy, I don't know what is.

Bubble Chasing

One of my favorite parts of the day, teaching my girl how to blow bubbles.

She did it!

Batter Up!

Little Miss was up first.

He's a natural.

The wind up!

He hit it!!!

Here comes the ball Carso!

He is Risen!!!

I woke up with this song in my head. I am seeing Easter with fresh eyes this year. How have I missed it all of these years? Previous years were filled with Easter bunny things and fun. This year I am moved to tears by the ultimate price He paid for us. What a gift to finally really see!

I am the thorn in your crown, but you loved me anyway
I am in the sweat on your brow, but you loved me anyway
I am the nail in your wrist, but you loved me anyway
I am Judas' kiss, but you loved me anyway!

Poppity Pops and Cookies with Carson :)

Last night I made cake pops. I had SO much fun making these. With some really good tips from my Cake Pops Bakerella book I was a lot more prepared than I was the previous times I've tried to make these. I made them for the kids Easter party at school. I loved everything about making them. The rolling, the dipping, and especially the decorating! I chose to make chicks and Easter eggs.

That was last night. Tonight I came home to make some cookies for a ministry at church. Carson wanted to help me and I had to laugh. He was wearing Kate's cardigan. :) I made white cake cookies which involves nothing more than a box of white cake mix, 1/4 cup water, 1/4 cup vegetable oil, and 1 egg. I rolled them into little balls and dipped them into sprinkles. Each time I dipped them into the sprinkles Carson would say, "Thank you Mommy!" Kind of like they were his sprinkles and he was thanking me for using them? Who knows, but it was so cute!

Carson and his cardigan.....oh and his sprinkles.

I noticed that he was adding his own individual sprinkles to the cookies

"Thank you Mommy!" I LOVE this kid

A little hand adding the sprinkles.

God has said, "Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you." So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" Hebrews 13:5-6
